The author was born in Chicago, Illinois but raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, she attended Louisiana Tech University before joining the United States Air Force. She retired from the Air Force in 2006. The author holds a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
